My beautiful wife of 15 years just learned something about me the other day. It’s not because she hasn’t been paying attention… it’s just that I’ve been keeping it somewhat of a secret because it’s, well, weird. Dental hygiene is not my strong suit (she knew this), but I have this weird thing about toothbrushes and other dental instruments… I never want mine to touch hers or (horror!) accidentally pick up hers or (AAUGH) use mine after she accidentally used mine!

I’ve kept this to myself and just worked on a complicated series of organizational methods as well as ensuring our toothbrushes were distinctly different to minimize this problem. All was well until we discovered the Reach Access flossing tool. I bought it, she liked it and started using it… the problem? There were now three dental hygiene utensils in our little organizer… and she’s, well, she’s careless! She just threw those both in there willy-nilly and they’d get all discombobulated and the risk I had so carefully avoided for years was suddenly back.

Well, I successfully fought back the urge to complain to her about her carelessness for many months… and then I went to the dentist. They gave me another of these things plus a new toothbrush and a tongue scraper (all of which they instructed me to use). So, I decided to try… but now we had 5 items for our little holder which only held four… so, we went shopping to find a larger one.

While shopping at Target for a holder, I finally break down and inform my wife of this weird problem of mine and that, if possible, I’d like my very own holder please. So, we got two holders and I now have my own. I honestly cannot describe the absolute relief and joy it has been. My morning and evening brushing sessions are SO less stressful to me since I’m not reorganizing the items in the holder to ensure there’s never a mix-up.

Yes – I’m weird. I is what I is. She still loves me… and that’s really all that matters.
